Applications for new electricity connections or the transfer of an electricity connection can be made at our main office located in the Port Authority Building, downtown Freeport. or at our satellite office in the Harbour West Shopping Centre in Eight Mile Rock.

All new customers will be asked to complete an "Application for Service" form.

Residential Customers

Residential customers applying for electrical service to their homes will also be asked to provide the following:

  1. A photo identification; only passports, voter's cards and driver's licenses will be accepted.
  2. A security deposit equal to two (2) months of electricity billings but not less than $120.00.
    And one of the following:
  3. An occupancy certificate issued by the Technical Department of the Grand Bahama Port Authority for newly constructed residences within the Port area.
  4. An occupancy certificate issued by the Ministry of Works, Bahamas Government for residences outside of the Port area.
  5. An inspection certificate issued by the Technical Department of the Grand Bahama Port Authority for residences within the Port area that have been vacant for more than one (1) year.
  6. A letter from their landlord giving permission to connect electric services in the customer's name for those persons leasing or renting the residence.

Commercial and Industrial Customers

Commercial and Industrial customers applying for electrical service to their establishments will also be asked to provide the following:

  1. For Commercial accounts a security deposit equal to two (2) months of electricity billings but not less than $500.00 will be required. Deposits for Industrial accounts will be determined on an individual basis after consultation with the Transmission & Distribution department.
  2. An occupancy certificate issued by the Technical Department of the Grand Bahama Port Authority for newly constructed buildings.
  3. A copy of the Articles of Incorporation and or business license.
