Grand Bahama Power Company is working diligently to prepare for the oncoming storm Joaquin, which is presently a category 4 Hurricane and continues to linger over the Central Bahamas.
Grand Bahama Power Company continues to track the progress of Hurricane Joaquin and pay close attention to all weather advisories. We have activated our Emergency Service Restoration Plan as well as our Emergency Response Team which will enable us to prepare and respond safely and efficiently.
The Grand Bahama Power Company also wishes to inform the public that we will not be performing a planned shutdown of our systems. We will continue to provide power to our customers as long as wind speeds and safe operations allow.
Grand Bahama Power Company is well prepared for the oncoming storm and we will continue to monitor the forecast.
Grand Bahama Power Company urges our customers to prepare for the impacts of the pending storm and to make safety your first priority. In the event of inclement weather or Hurricane Joaquin making landfall, we ask all customers to remain indoors as there may be flooding, downed power lines and trees.
The Grand Bahama company will close to the public at 12:30 pm toady and resume normal business hours on Monday, October 5.
