Recent Service Interruptions in Bahamia

The Grand Bahama Power Company (GBPC) works hard every day to deliver reliable electricity service to our customers at the lowest possible cost.  Unfortunately, there are times when events occur that trigger outages that are longer than anticipated.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 26th, an automobile accident on the West Sunrise Highway caused damage to our equipment, resulting in an outage in Bahamia and some of the surrounding area.  Crews were dispatched to conduct the necessary repairs however, the accident also caused a brush fire, resulting in a delay before our crews could safely access the damaged equipment and restore power to customers.  

This morning, there was another service interruption in the same area due to faulty equipment.  Crews were dispatched to conduct the necessary repairs and restored power to customers in just under two hours.  We realize this caused further inconvenience to our customers and we offer our sincere apologies.  

GBPC will continue working hard to minimize service interruptions to our customers.  We thank you for your patience and understanding.
