Session included the following:

Co-op Engineering Students

The programme caters to tenth through twelfth grades high school students as an after school event. With partial funding from the Grand Bahama Power Company, each cadet receives a quarterly stipend. During the summer months, cadets are hired to work for short periods with pay within the company.

Co-op is a program for students who are able to study and work during their undergraduate years of assignments. Co-op students usually produce good quality work from progressive work assignments. The mission of the Electrical Engineering Program is to graduate individuals who are prepared to accept electrical engineering responsibility in industry. Specifically, the four major goals of the program are:

  1. To graduate students with a broad and fundamental understanding of mathematics and science, engineering science, and electrical engineering;
  2. To provide its graduates with the experience and the skills necessary to work effectively in industry;
  3. To provide experience both designing products or systems from concept to completion and documenting the complete process in a professional manner;
  4. To facilitate student development as professional engineers

Electrical Engineers work in many areas of industry where they design and use electrical devices, such as; computer systems, control systems, radio and satellite communication systems, motors and electrical actuators and electronics.

Grand Bahama Power Company sponsors students in conjunction with Kettering University, Flint, Michigan. Since 1999, the company sponsored three students at the University.
